Advent Theory

I have lived in Texas all of my life, but for most of it (about sixteen years), it was spent in a city named Beaumont, which is where most of my family resides. I do not have many fond memories of this place despite living there for so long simply because it is a rather depressing place, even now. Thankfully, I was able to move to Katy, Texas, which is only a 20-minute drive west of Houston, making it fairly easy to reach the big city for things like concerts and higher-class shopping. Katy does have its fair share of stores and restaurants, especially with the recent opening of a local restaurant chain that my family visits often. The weather may be a bit dry and hot at times, but last year the city experienced a blizzard that took everyone by surprise, especially someone like me, since I have not been around snow very much.

Most of the time, I waltz about my world in a t-shirt and jeans, and today is no exception. I really like comfortable clothes, preferring function over fashion most of the time. My jeans are very comfortable, though this particular pair is a bit big for me, necessitating the use of my rarely-worn leather belt. My t-shirt sports an intricately-designed motif for one of my favorite bands, Tally Hall, and it is colored brown with white lines for the decoration. My standard footwear was worn again today, even though these shoes are becoming more shabby as I hike across campus in them. Once again, they are the most comfortable ones I have with me, so they get used very often in lieu of my nicer-looking shoes.

My favorite movie (at the moment) is probably “Serenity“, starring Nathan Fillion. The movie is based on a short-lived TV series named “Firefly”, which, in the show’s canon, is a class of spaceship. The movie was highly-requested by fans who were disappointed with the short duration of the main series, so it feels like a continuation of the basic story as well as containing the answers to many unsolved mysteries from the show. The characters, despite having to participate in some immoral activities, are very likable and unique. Their tough attitudes and “aim to misbehave” make them seem a bit too violent at first, but beneath this exterior, the characters all care about each other, a family of odds and ends living in space and scraping up petty jobs to make a living. Though the movie ends up showing the death of a few beloved characters, it is highly-thrilling and very entertaining.
