Dogs running away

One of the most dangerous or frightening choices your dog can make is running away. It could be hit by a vehicle, attacked by some other dog or person, or stolen. So it is imperative that you train your dog not to run away, EVER! It only has to happen once to happen one time too many. And then you will wish you had taught it. Many dogs run away, whether they are chasing some other animal or just having a good time. This problem will not fix itself and if left unsolved it usually ends in disaster. Here are some ways that the problem can be solved easily: Install an electric fence for pets. This method is very effective; the fence uses a combination of small shocks and audible tone that teach your dog to stay back. Only allow your dog to go out doors when you or another guardian is present. Buy or build a big kennel or dog run to keep it enclosed when outside, however this method is not fool proof since the dog could dig out if left unattended. Also make sure there is a decent orthopedic dog bed available for him to sleep on.

Gourmet Meals

Philly cheesesteak

I do enjoy a nice gourmet meal, but I’m far from being a food snob.  This afternoon, after running around all morning doing errands, I stopped at the local Domino’s Pizza for one of their delicious oven-baked subs.  I got the Philly steak and cheese sub, which was very tasty and filling, as always.  I’ve cut down on my red meat intake considerably, but now and then, I do allow myself the indulgence; I was very happy with my choice today…and so was my stomach!  The sandwich IS a bit greasy, though…so napkins are definitely required…especially if, like me, you enjoy typing and eating at the same time!

Ho-hum Summer

This was a pretty ho-hum summer, as summers go, I’m afraid.  I was single again, and so I didn’t have much on the social calendar going on, besides the occasional family-related outing.  For one thing, I went with my family up to Jordan Lake; we spent the day there by the water, grilling the usual summertime favorites and catching up with each other.  While there, I met my aunt’s mother-in-law, who had recently turned 80 years old!  Little did I know that it would be both the first and last time that we would meet; she passed away in late August.  We all attended her funeral, which was probably the most strangely pleasant funeral that I’ve ever been to; I only knew her a little, but she had the sweetest spirit.

Errand Day

Today, I got out of bed at 8 am and got dressed so that I could go run some errands.  First, my mother and I stopped at her new place of employment so that she could fill out the tax forms.  Then, we went to grocery store #1 (Harris Teeter), where got some really great deals; we ended up saving $14 off of the original price of all items combined.  Then, I stopped at my bank to ask them a question about my account.  After that, we stopped at grocery store #2, and got more groceries; the savings weren’t as amazing, but we did alright.
